Schoolhouse, Legion Hall, then home.
The 1840 Guest House was originally a one-room “common” schoolhouse built in 1829. It later became the Minto School, then the Royal Canadian Legion in 1933, before being rebuilt in 2012 as the guest house you see today.
Our name comes from a historical inscription found on a stone wall that reads “Mirricksville 1840.”

A truly memorable stay. The history of the schoolhouse, the warmth of our hosts, the thoughtful little touches in every room — we’re already planning our return.
Five-star in every sense. The bed, the breakfast, the pool, and the canal a stone’s throw away. Christina and Orlando are wonderful hosts.
We celebrated our anniversary in the Annex suite. Quiet, romantic, beautifully appointed — and Merrickville itself is a small wonder.
